Although it made my Firefox crash multiple times, I like the new option in Google Reader that allows you to include a small “clip” with the latest x of your shared items.

You can share your Google Reader items with readers of your website or blog by copying code into your template.

As the option to do so is there, I chose to get the plain code and to fully integrate it in my sidebar. If you like it a bit fancier, you can choose from a few simple colorschemes.

An example of the green colorscheme:

You can adjust the title (changing the title is what caused Firefox to crash for me), the mentioned colorschemes, the quantity of shared items for the clip (1 to 10) and whether or not you would like to display the root of the source (I chose to do so, think it generates some nice additional linkage).

You can see it in action in the sidebar on my frontpage under “in my Google Reader”

update: currently taken down, as all text-widgets cause my sidebar to break in IE, working on a fix for this [fixed]
