We all have our heroes, we all have a certain preference for people we set as example.
In blogging this counts just as well. The blogs you find inspiring, the writers that are an example to you, maybe even some methods you copy from your “blogging hero”…
As this might be a subject that does not get that much attention, I see the time ripe to start a series on Blog Role Models.
On different levels and subject there are many bloggers that put their stamp on todays blogosphere. I am not only talking about content, but also about blogdesign, SEO, blog-optimization, guiding, tips, inspiration… People like Veerle Pieters, Faruk Ate? (congrats on the job with Apple by the way!), Darren Rowse, Om Malik, Matt Mullenweg, Tantek Çelik, or any alike.
In these series, I pick one blog role model per post and make a complete profile, trying to be as unbiased as possible. So input is always welcome.
Please comment and submit your blog role models, ask what you want to know about them, then this series can start right away!
UPDATE: Please use the poll on the left to choose or add you Blog Role Model.
UPDATE 2: These series are postponed till further notice.

Eric Scalf added these pithy words on Mar 27 06 at 11:57 amAnyone that reads my blog, regularly, and sees how often I link to, quote, or otherwise reference Darren, will automatically assume that I would list him as my role model. Were I required to pick a role model, I supposed Darren would be it. However, I choose to not pick a role model.
Honestly, I don’t have a blogging role model. I have a lot of inspiration from other bloggers, and I take a lot of inspiration for specific bloggers, but I do not - in any way - aspire to be like them. Sure, I wouldn’t mind making my living blogging, ala Darren. Sure I wouldn’t mind creating a blogging empire, and then selling it for an obscene amount of money, ala Calcanis. Certainly, I wouldn’t mind being able to blog about things I love, and not see a need for ads, ala Kent Newsome.
The thing is, all of those people, and more, combine to make a sort of uber role model. I aspire to be what I aspire to be. I just let those on top inspire me, along my way.
Faruk Ate? added these pithy words on Mar 31 06 at 6:04 amWow, I am quite honored to be listed here! To be mentioned in one breath with so many fine people, it’s just.. wow
Thank you very much!
I must confess and say I voted for Veerle the only female in the list (and therefore deserving extra attention, imo), but also my biggest inspiration among those names. Her design talents never cease to amaze and inspire me, and her incredibly helpful tips and methods for design ideas are something that make me wish I was as fluent in creating good tutorials, let alone that regularly!
Again, thanks for your kind words. I will continue to do my utmost best to provide you and others with useful and valuable information, tips and technologies.
